Blake Griffin and Lob City Revolutionizing Dunks
Blake Griffin is an animal. If Black Griffin is not a beast, then they do not exist. Fact is Griffin's fantastic play did not start in this years season. His rookie year in the National Basketball Association was filled with ridiculous dunks and top plays. He even won The Rookie of The Year Award because of his play. Despite his big offensive production, the LA Clippers were not a very good team.
But since the addition of superstar Chris Paul, the Clips have been pretty spectacular this NBA season, making the NBA Playoffs, and also adding a few more good players to their roster.
Blake Griffin: Rookie Of the Year
Blake Griffin was the number one pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. But he would suffer an injury that would prevent him from playing the following 2009-2010 NBA season. Tragic indeed. Well he would make up for his absence the next season. In convincing fashion.
Griffin would be the story of the year in the 2010-2011 National Basketball Association season. Griffin would average almost 23 points, 12 rebounds and even 4 assists. He would also make numerous top plays, dunks and alley-oops that would set him out to be one of the most dominant post players in the league.
Slam Dunk Champion
Baby Blake Griffin would win the 2011 Sprite NBA Slam Dunk contest in convincing fashion. He awed millions with four spectacular dunks, leaping over a car for final applause. Blake Griffin's Slam Dunk title capped off everything he did for his rookie campaign and was a foreshadow of his future career.
The Clippers added superstar point guard Chris Paul this NBA season. Already with the high-flying Black Griffin and Deandre Jordan, this addition led players and fans to nickname the Clippers “Lob City” in expectation and anticipation of the alley-oops plays that they would make. And they have lived up to their name this season, making an abundance of dunk that were poetry in motion.
The Clippers Improvement
This year "Lob City" had mentionable highlights. In Staple Center and in away games. Griffin enjoyed plenty of lobs during the short regular season, along with Deandre Jordan. One of the team's most potent plays is the pick and roll where a big man gets loose for a dunk. Earlier in the season, Griffin posterized Kendrick Perkins by jumping over him and throwing down the hammer!
Right now the Clippers are looking to go far as possible in the playoffs and are looking to improve as a team.
